【blog】Why I Want to Pursue Happiness

Today, I’d like to write about the reason why I want to pursue happiness. To put it simply, it’s because I want to be happy myself.

My Mysteriously Difficult Childhood

Since I was a child, I’ve had moments where I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of “heaviness” or emotional exhaustion. On those days, I would end up skipping school or club activities. Even though there was no specific reason, I just felt emotionally drained. I knew something wasn’t quite right.

Perhaps it’s my negative way of thinking. Or maybe it’s the influence of my mother, who was always very anxious. It could even be genetic. However, blaming my environment or my upbringing doesn’t solve anything. No one else is going to fix it for me. Back then, without understanding why, I would just take those days off.

Realizing the Habit Remained in Adulthood

Even after becoming an adult and starting my career, that habit didn’t go away. I started to realize that if I kept this up, I would continue to cause trouble for the people around me. I felt a desperate need to do something about it. It might be late in the game to start thinking this way, but better late than never. I began to ask myself: Why do I feel so exhausted? Am I not happy? Yet, at the same time, I do have moments where I feel happy and joyful. So, what exactly ishappiness? I felt a strong urge to get to the bottom of it.

A Life-Changing Book Provided the Final Push

In the midst of this, I happened to read a book called “The Mission” (by Dr. John F. Demartini). It is a wonderful book, and I highly recommend it to everyone. It gives you the chance to re-evaluate your life.

After doing the exercises introduced in the book, I realized that what I value most in life—what I want to dedicate my life to—is the pursuit of happiness. Pursuing happiness, becoming happy myself, and helping others become happy: that is my life’s goal. If I can organize what I’ve learned through this blog and help others find happiness along the way, then I, too, will be truly happy.
